Ang Mo Kio might sound like a very boring and untrendy neighbourhood when it comes to food but if you haven’t been to this part of Singapore, you are seriously missing out on a lot!

Here’s what you need to eat, pronto!

1) Pine Garden’s Cake Shop

If you miss these super old school classic buttercream cakes, then you really need to check out this cake shop near popular coworking space, The Workshop. Besides traditional flavours such as chocolate rice cake and black forest, they also have moden variations such as pulut hitam and lychee martini! Each slice of cake is affordably priced from $1.30 to $2.50.

This Malay food stall in Ang Mo Kio is famous for their Power Mee Rebus and let’s just say it’s really powerful! Featured on numerous food blogs and having won several awards, the mee rebus here comes with a mountain of satay sauce that packs a tasty punch with the perfectly-cooked noodles and flavourful chicken.

Is the heat getting to you? Then cool down with this traditional Chinese dessert filled with dried longans, white fungus, gingko nuts, strips of dried persimmon and candied melon. This version here at Four Seasons is refreshingly sweet without being too cloying

Featured on the Michelin Guide, the minced meat noodles here will have you queuing for 45 minutes or more. But once you sink your teeth into the springy noodles, you’ll wish you’d ordered another bowl. Our personal recommendation is to go for the mee kia!

5) Mellben Seafood

Mellben is synonymous with crabs and this is where we often go for family gatherings and office celebrations after a day of work at The Workshop. The crowd-favourite for us is definitely their creamy butter crab which like the name suggests, features a creamy crab drenched in a creamy and rich sauce that’s totally worth slurping up the calories!

About The Workshop

This list is put together by the members at The Workshop, a fun and community-based collaborative workplace set in a super chic redefined industrial space at Ang Mo Kio. Our pantry conversations may or may not always revolve around food.
